Following our interest in breeding and genetics we ventured into the world of pigeon racing. We fly under the loft name C.D. Dovecote which stands for the Charles Darwin Dovecote. (Dovecote being another name for pigeon loft).

Our loft required unique design consideration to prevent our birdie hunting dogs from harassing our racing stock at every opportunity. We knew the solution was to put the aviary high of the ground to let the birds have some peace. The second objective was to come up with a design the neighbors would tolerate. After much thought I stumbled across an old picture of a San Francisco street car and patterned the loft to look similar.

With the help of a few good mentors and breeders we are enjoying the sport of pigeon racing and having some successes. C.D. Dovecote is the home the following pigeons:
